The New Fortnite Season Just Turned the Island Into a Bug Warzone

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 has arrived, and it brings a complete transformation of the Island. The “Shock ‘N Awesome” season is out, and in its place is a bug-infested warzone that players will need to survive .
“The v37.00 update went live this morning, and, as a result, servers are already packed with players exploring the new POIs and testing the new weapons. Consequently, here is the complete breakdown of everything that changed.
The Bug-Infested Island
Three types of insectoid enemies have overrun the Island. To start, Swarmers are small and fast, travelling in packs to overwhelm unsuspecting players. Meanwhile, Bombers are larger bugs that attack from range using goopy projectiles that explode on impact. Finally, Queens are giant, boss-like enemies that appear after clearing infested zones, each dropping a Mythic weapon and a Medallion.
Four new named locations have been added to the Battle Royale map. To begin with, The Hive serves as the central bug nest, pulsing with activity. Meanwhile, O.X.R. HQ is a high-tech facility fighting back against the infestation. In contrast, Ranger’s Ruin offers an overgrown, post-apocalyptic feel, and finally, Swarmy Stash is a loot-rich area crawling with smaller bugs.

New Weapons Arsenal
The loot pool has been completely refreshed with six new weapons designed to fight the bug threat. To begin with, the Bug Blaster is an energy weapon effective against swarms. Meanwhile, the Leadspitter 3000 offers a high rate of fire for suppressing enemies. Finally, the Sweeper Shotgun delivers devastating close-range damage.
“The O.X.R. Rifle is a precise assault rifle for medium engagements; meanwhile, the Wrecker Revolver packs serious punch per shot, and the Swarmstrike Launcher, in turn, fires explosive projectiles ideal for clearing groups.
An additional weapon, the Blade Blaster, is scheduled to arrive in a later update, giving players something to look forward to mid-season.
Battle Pass and Power Rangers Collaboration
The Chapter 6 Season 4 Battle Pass features an exciting mix of original and collaboration skins. UNSC Spartan brings Halo into the Fortnite universe. Yoo-mi, Agent Patch, Battle Gamer Mae, Lt. Ripp Slade, and Onyx Winter round out the original character offerings .
The Green Ranger from Power Rangers is included in the pass, with the Dino Megazord available as an unlockable reward through special quests arriving on September 16, 2025. Furthermore, this marks one of the most ambitious collaboration efforts in recent seasons.
New Medallions and Boons
Three new Medallions join the loot pool. The Surge Medallion increases movement speed and gives a burst of speed when sliding. The Springleg Medallion provides double jump and fall damage resistance. The Carapace Medallion grants Siphon plus 3 Shield per second up to 50 Shield .
Several new Boons have also been added, including Agile Aiming, Extended Magazine, Storm Forecast, and ranked Super Soldier Boons (S+, S, A, B) that reward competitive play .
Champions Road Tournament Structure
The competitive scene gets attention with an expanded Champions Road tournament schedule. Notably, events include Icon Cups featuring Lachlan, Loserfruit, Bugha, and Clix; in addition, PlayStation Cup and various FNCS community events will run through August and September.
Players can earn exclusive rewards through these tournaments, with the Blade of Champions Cup and Axe of Champions Cup offering competitive prestige items.
