The New Apex Season Just Changed How You Play Every Legend
March 13, 2026

Apex Legends Season 27 is officially live, and it brings the most significant gameplay changes since the introduction of classes. The “Showdown” season focuses on quality-of-life improvements while introducing a new Legend that changes how aggressive play works.

The New Legend: Wraith
Season 27 introduces the game’s newest Legend: Wraith. Wait, that’s not right. The new Legend is actually Nyx, a recon specialist with abilities focused on information denial. Nyx’s tactical ability deploys a drone that jams enemy radar in a radius, while his ultimate creates a zone of silence where enemy abilities cannot be heard.
The community has already nicknamed him “The Anti-Bloodhound.” His passive allows him to see recent enemy footprints, giving his team crucial rotation information. Early impressions suggest Nyx will be meta-defining in competitive play.
Storm Point Reborn
Storm Point has received its most significant overhaul since release. The map now features three new POIs: a crashed IMC ship in the north, an underground research facility in the center, and a revamped Lightning Rod with better loot distribution.
Respawn has also addressed the long-standing complaint about Storm Point being “too quiet.” Prowler nests now spawn more frequently, and the map’s wildlife is more aggressive, ensuring teams always have something to fight.
Here is the breakdown of the Season 27 changes:
| Category | Pre-Season 27 | Season 27 Update | Meta Impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Legend | None | Nyx (Recon / Info Denial) | High |
| Storm Point | Quiet / Slow rotations | 3 new POIs / More Prowlers | Moderate |
| R-301 | Meta AR | Slight recoil nerf | Medium |
| Volt SMG | Underused | Damage buff + faster reload | High |
| EVO System | Damage-based only | +Harvesters for materials | Game-changing |
Weapon Balancing Overhaul
The weapon meta has been shaken up significantly. The R-301, long considered the safest AR choice, received a slight recoil increase to make it less dominant at medium range. The Flatline, removed from the crafter, now spawns on the floor again.
The Volt SMG is the big winner this season. Damage per bullet increased from 15 to 16, and reload speed improved by 10%. Early testing suggests the Volt might replace the Car as the preferred energy SMG.
Shotguns also saw changes. The Peacekeeper now has tighter pellet spread when aiming down sights, rewarding precision over spam. The Mozambique finally got the buff it deserved, now holding four shots instead of three.

EVO System Changes
The EVO shield system, previously based entirely on damage dealt, now includes an alternative progression path. Harvesters placed around the map allow teams to collect materials that upgrade shields.
This change addresses the long-standing complaint that ratting teams fall too far behind. Now, even teams avoiding fights can upgrade by collecting materials, though damage remains the faster path. The change rewards map knowledge and rotation planning.
