TFT 16.6 PATCH JUST DROPPED – Unlock Conditions Overhaul & Yone Finally Nerfed
March 6, 2026

TFT Patch 16.6 arrives on March 4, 2026, delivering the most significant overhaul to the Unlock system since Set 16: Lore & Legends began . According to lead designers Riot Ukime and Riot Prism, “Patch 16.6 is all about making Unlocks more accessible to promote flexibility and open up new lines” .
The update dramatically simplifies Unlock conditions across nearly every champion, making it easier to access powerful units without jumping through frustrating hoops . Alongside these changes, Yone receives heavy nerfs after dominating the meta, Choncc’s Treasure returns as a casual mode until April 14, and multiple traits including Ionia, Bruiser, and Slayer get significant adjustments .
Here’s everything in the TFT 16.6 patch notes.

Unlock System Overhaul: What Changed
The headline feature of Patch 16.6 is a complete rework of Unlock conditions across the board. Most requirements have been significantly lowered or simplified, allowing players to access powerful champions without jumping through frustrating hoops .
Major Unlock Condition Changes
| Champion | Old Condition | New Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Yone | 3-star Yasuo | 2-star Yasuo with 3 items + Level 7 [citation:2] |
| Kalista | 70 souls | 30 souls + Level 7 [citation:2] |
| Veigar | Champion with 2x Deathcap | Yordle with 1x Deathcap + Level 7 [citation:2] |
| Rift Herald | Field Void for 8 combats | Field Void for 2 combats + Level 7 [citation:2] |
| Nidalee | 2x 2-star Neeko | 2-star Neeko with 3 items + Level 7 [citation:2] |
| Gwen | 20 souls | 10 souls + Level 5 [citation:2] |
Yone has been dominating the meta, and Patch 16.6 delivers significant nerfs. His AD passive drops from 80/120 to 55/85, AP passive from 140/210 to 110/165, split damage from 320/480 to 250/400, and base attack speed from 0.9 to 0.85 . These changes should finally knock Yone out of S-tier .
Other buffs include Lulu (330/500/750 damage), Ekko (160/240/380), Ashe (60/90/135 AD), and Ahri (82/125/225). Nerfs hit Aatrox (10% damage reduction), T-Hex (laser damage down), and Mel (Radiant item threshold now 235) .
Choncc’s Treasure Returns & Regional Finals
Choncc’s Treasure returns as a casual game mode from March 4 to April 14, 2026 . This fan-favorite mode features starting champions selected from the entire pool of a given tier (including locked/unlocked), though 7-cost champions are excluded from the starting round .
The mode drops extra loot orbs after each Carousel Stage—three after Stage 1, up to seven after Stage 5 . A Golden loot orb drops when your health falls below 50 HP, containing rare items like Tome of Traits, Tactician Crowns, or Ornn Artifacts .
The Lore & Legends Regional Finals run over two weekends, March 6-8 and March 13-15, featuring the top 64 players from AMER, EMEA, and APAC competing for a share of the $50,000 prize pool and qualification for the Tactician’s Crown . Streams will be available on official TFT channels with community co-streaming .
